about

"Head in the Clouds" is the third and final release of 2022 from the Sheep Fiends - just as the year fades away...

Eleven improvised tracks are on hand - with perhaps a bit more of our...um...special Chicago humor than usual and a curious tendency towards the duet.

Mark and Scratch take on clubbing, trucking, footwork and of course cybersecurity during a fun suite of songs. But things also get serious as the band shows concern regarding peacock discrimination, the feline scene in Times Square, and the general abnormality that is existence.

Opening with a crazed guitar battle and closing with a slow dirge this album keeps you guessing musically. Guitars turn into computer squeals on top of organs and it gets rather dancy and a tad gospel - while of course drenched in that classic Sheep Fiends weirdness. Check out that crazy Stylophone, good buddy!

credits

released December 26, 2022

all tracks improvised by the Sheep Fiends, who, upon reflection, consist of the following for this collection:

Mark Armantrout, Geoff Bashaw, Brian Cameron, Stevie Collins, David Ladd, Paul McLennon, Brian McNally, Brendan Rowland, Scratch, Zackary Webb, and Aaron Zygmunt.

Oddly enough these songs were originally recorded during jams in 2017 and 2018 and 2019 and 2020 and 2021 and 2022 and that is now (for now).

Sheep Fiends Chicago, Illinois

Sheep Fiends have been recording improvisational, impromptu, and extemporaneous music since 1992. We adhere to no genre, and every jam is a performance. Lyrics are composed as the music is played, musicians play by ear, and it is not uncommon for an instrument to change hands mid-song. ... more
